Background: the National Student Scientific Conference on Oncology and Hematology is held at the University of Medical Sciences of Las Tunas every two years: OncoForum.
Objective: to describe some metrics of the student scientific production presented at the II Student Scientific Conference on Oncology and Hematology: OncoFórum 2021.
Methods: a descriptive and cross-sectional bibliometric study was carried out on the works accepted for the aforementioned conference, held in August 2021. The universe was made up of the 117 works presented. Variables related to authors, research and the written document were assessed.
Results: Las Tunas was the province with the highest number of papers presented (37). 354 participants were reported, with a predominance of multiple authorship (82,05 %). 63,53 % of the works had a female as the first author. Descriptive observational studies predominated (80,43 %). According to the location of the cancer types, those related to oral cancer were more frequent (34). There was a greater number of studies focused on diagnosis and treatment (51). A total of 2415 bibliographic references were used in the reports, 1100 in the review papers, without reaching adequate levels of updating. The highest number of references used was in Spanish (1647).
Conclusions: multiple authorship, female authors, descriptive and observational studies on diagnosis and treatment, as well as the use of bibliographic reference reports in Spanish characterized OncoFórum 2021.
