Characterization of preconception risks in women of childbearing age belonging to a medical office

Background: reducing the number of pregnant women with pregnancy risks and complications are subject to change from preconception.
Objective: to characterize the preconceptional risk in females from the 16 Medical office of "Manuel Fajardo Rivero" University Polyclinic health area during 2022.
Methods: an observational, descriptive cross-sectional study was performed in the medical office and time period declared. From a universe of 150 women of childbearing age, chosen by intentional sampling, 43 women with preconceptional risk factors, aged between 13 and 37, were selected. The variables evaluated were age, personal and maternal pathological history, social risk factors, obstetric risk history and contraceptive method. Descriptive statistics was used in the data treatment.
Results: ages 20 to 34 (55.81 %) predominated for pregnancy, although extreme ages together accounted for 44.19 %. Bronchial asthma (23.26 %), COVID-19 (18.60 %) and vaginal flow syndrome (16.28 %) were the most frequent personal pathological history; maternal hypertension (25.58 %). Early debut sex (41.86 %), prevailed as social risk, 46.51 % had two or more risks. Nullity (44.19 %) was the most common obstetric history risk. The most commonly used contraceptive method was the condom (32.55 %) while 51.17 % used none.
Conclusions: patients with preconception risk included in the study were characterized.
