State of fragility in major adults. Geriatric center of Las Tunas 2018-2020

Background: the early diagnosis of the state of fragility and its prevalence allows intervening with individual and collective plans to try to foresee its fatal consequences.
Objective: to establish the prevalence of the syndrome of fragility in the senile ones of the principal geriatric center of Las Tunas.
Method: a study observational and descriptive in which there was included the universe of the older adults of the hearth “Dr. Carlos E. Font Pupo” of Las Tunas and evaluated like fragile the senile ones affected by 3 or more of the Cuban criteria of fragility. Established the prevalence, to the fragile old people's homes there were analyzed the variables age, sex, illnesses and associate problems of health, as well as his functional level.
Results: the group of age most affected with 24.1 %, is that of 85 and more, finding a predominance of the male sex, with 58.8 %, the most common associate illness the arterial hypertension, 65.8 %, the Cuban criterion of fragility the comorbidity, affecting 81.5 % and the most demanded geriatric protector and of minor coverage they are showed.
Conclusions: the valuation of prevalence of the syndrome of fragility is 60.20 %. The arterial hypertension represented by 65.8 %, the dementia, 57.6 %, constitutes the priorities to evaluate in any strategy of intervention to diminish the prevalence of the condition of fragility in this center.
