Aortoesophageal fistula is an infrequent complication of esophageal cancer, but extremely aggressive. The study presents the case of a smoker and occasional drinker that was admitted for intense dyspnea, cough with expectoration, dysphagia and general symptoms that led to a diagnosis of esophageal cancer by esophagoscopy. The patient died at the seventh day of admission for massive hematemesis secondary to an aortoesophageal fistula.
