Background: lung tomography is the study of choice to assess the lung parenchyma in diffuse interstitial lung disease, this type of injury can be caused by COVID-19.
Objective: to describe the clinical, radiological and tomographic findings in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 at the Cuban Hospital of Qatar, from March through June 2020.
Method: a descriptive study was carried out on a series of 15 COVID-9 positive cases with CT scan study treated at the aforementioned hospital and during the period herein declared. The sample was divided into two groups: satisfactory progress and unsatisfactory progress. The following variables were assessed: age, sex, nationality, presence of comorbidities, lab studies (white blood cell differential, lactate dehydrogenase (DHL), C-reactive protein, and glycemia), initial chest X-ray, tomographic findings (number of affected segments, lesion morphology and justification for the study).
Results: the 41 to 50 and 51 to 60 age groups were the largest ones. Seven patients had a non-satisfactory progress. The Philippine nationality was the most frequent, Egyptians had the worst progress. The female sex was the largest one and with the worst progress. Diabetes was the comorbidity with the highest incidence. The patients with a poor progress had altered evolutionary white blood cell differential, DHL, C-reactive protein and glycemia; initial chest X-ray showed more than two affected quadrants; lung TC scan revealed lesions of 10-18 segments, and presence of lesions in frosted glass.
Conclusions: the clinical, radiological and tomographic findings were described, attaining the typification of the characteristics for the patients with a poor progress.
