Prenatal diagnosis of conjoined thoracopagus siameses

Multiple pregnancy has an increasing incidence, an implication could be the appearance of congenital defects, including twins linked by different anatomical areas. Although its incidence is low, its mortality is high, do to the connection of vital organs involved in the defect. We present a case of prenatal diagnosis of twins joined (Siamese) thoracic, who share a single heart and liver, in a pregnant adolescent of Las Tunas. The case was detected at 12,3 weeks of gestation. Due to the implications of the anatomical regions united and under genetic counseling, the family decides the voluntary termination of pregnancy. No toxic habits were found in the mother that could be related to the defect, only her age constituted a risk, 18 years.
