Anchored marrow syndrome is a malformation of the caudal partition of the spine of unusual onset in adult life. Sometimes the anesthesiologist must face the attention to patients with this pathology. The objective of this work is to describe the anesthesiological management of a patient who received surgical treatment for presenting this syndrome. The study presents the case of a 35-year-old white male patient with a history of surgical treatment due to bilateral bone necrosis of the carpal bones. The patient was an occasional drinker. He presented complaining of intense backache radiating to the right gluteal region and lower limbs, of one-year progress. It was accompanied by erectile dysfunction and constipation. With nuclear magnetic resonance and the physical examination, an anchored marrow syndrome was diagnosed. Surgical treatment was ordered which was performed under orotracheal general anesthesia. The whole procedure proved to be satisfactory.Downloads
