Macrostomia, a transverse facial fracture or type 7 Tessier fracture, is a birth defect that affects specifically the corners of the mouth. It is included in the group of rare conditions with an unknown etiology; however, although multifactorial, it may appear without a hereditary factor or family history. The bilateral form is infrequent. Treatment is surgical. We present the case of a one-year-old male, white patient with a past medical history of congenital malformation with a diagnosis of bilateral macrostomia, without any other associated conditions. This was the second case reported in the province of Camagüey. The patient was admitted for surgery, with a surgical technique of Z-plasty. Dissection of the tissues was performed separated by planes: mucous, muscular and cutaneous. Suture was removed after seven and ten days. There was no problem with cicatrization. Follow-up controls were carried out after 15 days and at two months. After one year of follow-up there was a satisfactory progress with excellent esthetic and functional results.Downloads
