Formation of the professional identity value of the pediatrician in residents of Pediatrics

Background: to comprehensively prepare the residents of pediatrics to meet the demands of society requires the appropriation of the features that characterize the pediatrician and assertive communication in the formation of their professional image, as well as coordinated work between pediatric specialists and other health professionals as training agents.
Objective: to describe procedures and steps of a methodology for the formation of the professional identity value of the pediatrician in residents of this specialty.
Methods: a historical study of the subject was carried out, the review of normative documents of pediatrics and criteria of experienced specialists were sought, at the University of Medical Sciences of Las Tunas, in the 2019-2020 academic year. Critical opinion and collective construction workshops were held with selected specialists, with years of training residents of this specialty.
Results: a methodology was developed for the formation of the professional identity value of the pediatrician, structured in procedures: preparedness of the residents of pediatrics and agents who intervene in the process of formation of the professional identity value of the pediatrician; professional pediatrician approach; design and implementation of the postgraduate course "The identity of the pediatrics professional", in which identity workshops are held on the professional training of the residents of pediatrics. The steps of each procedure are described.
Conclusions: a methodology was developed with procedures and steps for the formation of the professional identity value of the pediatrician.
