Abstract

A descriptive, longitudinal, and prospective study about bronchial asthma behavior in
patients from 18 to 60 years of age was carried out by the basic work group No. 2
belonging to “Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima” Polyclinic of Las Tunas from June, 2012 to
December, 2012. The patients were chosen from those who went to the medical
emergency department, clinically suspected or diagnosed with bronchial asthma, and
needing treatment for the abatement of their acute symptoms. There were more females
than males. The prevailing age group was between 18 and 30 years old. The moderate
persistent asthmatic patients were the prevalent ones. The patients with an inadequate
therapeutic use of the previous treatment were those who went more frequently to the
emergency department. There are a great number of upset patients who are only assisted
by family doctors. The data were collected from the department documents and processed
by means of statistical methods using the necessary technology
