LUNG NEOPLASMS, PANCOAST SYNDROMEAbstract
Pancoast’s tumor has a specific form to present, with pain in the arm and shoulder. It is a frequent cause of orthopedic consultation and, when not assessed as a possible lung cancer, the diagnosis may be delayed. This study describes the case of a 71-year-old woman, with a history of smoking and hypertension that came to see the doctor complaining of pain in the right shoulder, paresthesia and a decrease of the strength of the upper right limb, as well as palpebral ptosis in the right eye, cough, anorexia and weight loss. After radiological tests and thorax CT scan, a great tumoral mass was found in the upper lobe and apex of the right lung. The histological results of the aspiration puncture of the mass showed a non-small cell carcinoma. The patient was referred to the oncology service to be provided with a course of chemotherapeutic treatment.Downloads
