Scientometric indicators of the active bibliography of Dr. Zoilo E. Marinello Vidaurreta

Background: his fruitful 47 years of professional life allowed Dr. Zoilo Enrique Marinello Vidaurreta to become one of the most important experts in the field of cancer research. Considered a great teacher of Cuban oncology, he trained many generations that make of his work a long-lasting event.
Objective: to assess the main indicators of productivity and visibility of the active bibliography of Dr. Zoilo Enrique Marinello Vidaurreta.
Methods: a bibliometric study was carried out where the indicators of productivity and visibility of the scientific production of that prestigious Cuban scientist were analyzed by using Scholar Google database.
Results: out of 105 articles 544 quotations were identified, with an average of 7,45 quotations per year and the h-index was 12. The most cited document was Nociones y reflexiones sobre el cáncer with a total of 97 citations.
Conclusions: considering the metric assessment of science, Dr. Zoilo Enrique Marinello Vidaurreta is one of the paradigms of Cuban medicine in the last five decades.
