A methodology for the content on lifestyle of women of childbearing age in the training of the family doctor

Abstract

Background: it is necessary to continue improving the training process of residents of the specialty of family medicine.

Objective: to propose a methodology to weigh up the educational content on lifestyle of women of childbearing age in the training of family medicine residents.

Methods: an intervention study was carried out in the training process of residents of the specialty of family medicine, at the “Manuel Aquiles Espinosa Salgado” University Polyclinic of the municipality of Las Tunas. The study included the checking of the curriculum and syllabus of the specialty, resolutions and regulations of postgraduate education and research related to the training model of Cuban doctors. The pedagogical conception and the proposed methodology were presented, in two workshops, to 23 teachers, intentionally selected.

Results: a methodology was developed for the treatment of the educational content on lifestyle of women of childbearing age, broken down into procedures: organization and planning of the existing conditions in the health district, design and implementation of workshops for the training of teachers and residents, preparation and execution of the topics and the teaching tasks to be developed in the teaching-learning process of family medicine residents and knowledge acquisition by the residents. The actions of each procedure were described.

Conclusions: a methodology is proposed to weigh up the educational content on lifestyle of women of childbearing age, adapted to the conditions of the teaching-learning process of family medicine residents.
